House Party (2023) review


 When it was announced in 2018 that LeBron James and his production company were rebooting beloved classic “House Party”, expectations were already at an all time low. I mean how do you remake an iconic film like the original “House Party”? A film so revered that In 2022, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". With that said, let’s begin with the review.


The review

House Party(2023) is the sixth movie in the House Party franchise, and when I say it’s the worst movie in the series, I mean it. Yes worst than the one with Immature(House Party 4: Down to the Last Minute) Yes worst than the direct to video sequel from a decade ago(House Party: Tonight’s The Night).


House Party (2023) is truly a nonsensical movie. It lacks the coming of age-feel good nature  of the first movie. It lacks the motivational & educational purpose of the second film. And it misses the theme of growing up from the third movie. 


Let’s just begin with the plot of the movie. Two slackers work for a cleaning company, they end up cleaning LeBron’s mansion, and they come up with this genius idea of throwing a house party there after they were terminated from the cleaning company for smoking weed on the job .That’s literally the plot there. 


The movie is full of random cameos from Walter Jones (The original black ranger), OBJ, Kid N Play(barely), LeBron himself, Juvenile, Kid Cudi (in a weird ass role) & FUCKING weed smoking Koala! They had to be smoking crack when they came up with this screenplay. And to be honest they should’ve just called this LeBron’s House. 


There’s a reason why this movie was originally supposed to be direct to streaming, then cancelled. There was barely any promotion by LeBron or any of the stars in the movie. I went to a matinee and it was 5 people in the theater, and one guy walked out(What I should’ve did). 


If the goal was to ruin a beloved classic, then Mission Accomplished. Stay away from this movie. Just stay home and watch the original trilogy. 


House Party(2023) gets ⭐️ out of ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Crow(2024) Review

  There's a reason why this movie has been in developmental hell for close to 20 years. This is the movie franchise no one wanted to be in or direct. Since 2009, a Crow reboot has had multiple people drop in and out. Here's a comprehensive list: Most people didn't want to compete with the original film because it's considered a cult classic due to the untimely on set death of star Brandon Lee, and its gritty gothic take of the James O'Barr graphic novel.
